31 Days to a Stress-Free Holiday : Stocking up on the Essentials

One of my greatest pet peeves is running out of something essential to whatever it is that I’m doing, having to drop said activity to drive to the store to buy needed item while fighting crazy Christmas time traffic, and then returning home to frantically try to finish aforementioned activity in time. YUCK. I hate it. This does not a peaceful, stress-free Holiday make. You don’t want to be that news story about the women who got into a fist fight over the last can of pumpkin on Thanksgiving morning. Save your self the trouble and headaches, and save me from shaking my head at your news feature!

[Haha – I just reminded myself of those funny DirecTV commercials from this year]

Don’t end up in a roadside ditch, people! This can all be prevented with a little planning ahead. Let’s all take just a few minutes to ¬†look at our home inventory of baking essentials, toiletries, cleaning supplies, and a few home necessities – and then stock up on the things we know we will need.

First things first…we’ve got to make sure that we take care of the baked goods. There’s nothing worse than having to scrap perfectly good cookie dough because you’re missing one thing. Just say no! Go check your kitchen now to make sure you have everything you need, and add what you don’t have to your next grocery list.

We’ve tidied our homes and are ready maintain the clean for any unexpected guests. Let’s check our cabinets to make sure we have everything we need for any speed cleaning sessions: All-purpose cleaner, window cleaner, dusting spray, bathroom cleaner….whatever your go-to cleaners are, make sure you are fully stocked. If you’re low, this might be a good time to try using items you already have to make your own homemade, chemical-free cleaners. Also, check to see that you have enough paper towels or clean rags to last you through the season.

If you plan on hosting guests during the Holidays, this would also be the time to check out your linens and towels. Is everything clean and ready to go? Do you need to restock any of these items? And last, but certainly not least, double check your TP stash! The last thing you need to run out is toilet paper.

These tasks may seem a little tedious, but they’re part of the foundation to a stress-free Holiday. If you start early and tackle one task a day, you will definitely be on your way to a peaceful and joyful season!

I hope you are all having a great week so far! Thanks for reading!
