31 Days to a Stress-Free Holiday : Plan Must-Do Family Activities and Traditions

We’re doing a lot of planning here lately, aren’t we? But it’s good! Planning = nice, lovely, stress-free holidays.

Have you seen all of the Summer and Autumn bucket lists/to-do lists floating around Pinterest this year? I think this is such a great idea, as long as you are realistic about it and gracious with yourself if you don’t do it all. Think about your family traditions for Thanksgiving and Christmas, or think up a few things you would like to try.

Do you like to get everyone in their PJ’s and pile in the car to go look at light displays? Or have you jumped on the Elf on the Shelf trend? Pick just a few fun things you would like to do with your family this holiday season. If you’re searching for ideas, I have a list of 25 super fun things that you could add to your list!

1) Go to a Christmas tree farm to cut down your own tree

2) Plan a special Christmas movie night. Get in your pajamas and make some hot chocolate!

3) Bake Christmas cookies together for Santa or the neighbors

4) Have a Mini-van Express

5) Attend a tree lighting ceremony or Christmas light parade

6) Random acts of kindness

7) Go ice skating

8) Attend a live Nativity or Christmas pageant

9) Breakfast with Santa

10) Build a gingerbread house

11) Snuggle by the fire

12) Go caroling around the neighborhood or at a nursing home {“The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear!”}

13) Build a snowman (not necessarily out of snow)

My sad excuse of a snow man the one time we got a little flurry. He’s about 6 inches tall. :)

14) Make a popcorn and cranberry garland for the tree

15) Make some Christmas crafts together

16) Have a Christmas music dance party

17) Roast marshmallows

18) Track Santa on Christmas Eve

19) Have an egg nog tasting

20) Make paper snowflakes

21) Build a blanket fort

22) Go sit on Santa’s lap at the mall

23) Make a Christmas countdown paper chain

24) Take family pictures in front of the tree

25) “Jingle” somebody

What activities will you add to your list this year? Or do you already have set family traditions?

Have a great weekend, y’all!

Author: likeasaturday

I love my husband, family, friends, and sweet puppy. Every morning starts with a cup of coffee, and many days end with one. I enjoy being crafty, organizing events of any size, being outside, appreciating art, finding creative and healthful ways to cook, and living a simple life. I spend a lot of my time working on projects to update our home (on the cheap), which may or may not include the occasional midnight spray painting. I'm glad you stopped by! If nothing else, I hope my crazy antics will at least bring a smile to your face!
