One of my main goals for our home in the next few months is to update our master bathroom and closet. I think this is the room that has really received the least amount of attention since we moved in a little over three years ago. I had a good amount of paint leftover from our living room and main hallway and decided to slap some of that up on the walls so that there would at least be some color until I knew what I wanted to do with it.
I created a little inspiration mood board to collect some ideas for the room before starting on it. Our bedroom is a light robin’s egg blue with chocolate and white accents. I wanted to carry over the same feel into the master bath so that the two rooms mesh well together.

1) & 2) The first thing on my agenda is to repaint. The current color in the bathroom is Restrained Gold by Sherwin Williams. It is a lovely neutral color, but is far too yellow for the bathroom, especially with the loooong row of builder grade globe lighting above the mirror. I’m planning to do warm grey. I’m really liking Chelsea Grey and Silver Chain by Benjamin Moore. Painting the walls grey will make the room feel more calming and perhaps spa-like.
3) I want to bring in some of the blues that we have in our bedroom. I adore this blue trellis rug! It is insanely affordable, too! I think it will look awesome in their, especially once we are able to tile the bathroom. Seriously, a strip of linoleum and then a bunch of carpet is not working for me. {WHO puts carpet in bathrooms?!?}.
4) The builder grade vanity light has got to go. Not only is it hideous, it gives too much light. There are so many bulbs on that puppy. It seems like there is always at least one burned out bulb, and if they all happen to be working at once….it is blinding. I think this vanity light fixture from Lowes would be a lovely alternative. I like the oil-rubbed bronze finish and the fact that it only has 4 lights.
5) I also want to replace the builder grade sink faucets with an ORB finish. This fixture is also from Lowes.
6) I plan to replace the towel bar with a shelf/hook combo. I may either build one on my own or purchase something like the shelf pictured above. It would be great for additional storage for small items, and also a place to display a few decorative items.
7) I have a couple of apothecary jars to stick on the shelf once it is hung. These are great to hold epsom salts, cotton balls, or other small toiletries.
8) We have these blue and brown towels from Target. The blue and chocolate color scheme is masculine, but is very easy to add feminine touches to in order to bring a little balance.
9) One of the ways I’ll add a feminine touch is with artwork. I am a little bit in love with these prints from Rifle Paper Co. They would look lovely grouped in white frames. I plan to bring in additional colors through artwork.
I can’t wait to get started on this project! I don’t really have a set time frame for finishing the room, as we tend to make small updates as our budget allows. I hope to start with the painting soon! I’ll, of course, keep you updated!
What room are you hoping to focus on next?
I hope everyone is having a great week so far. Hang in there! It’s almost Friday!
