Ceiling Medallion Turned Decorative Mirror

This weekend, I finally did a project that I’ve been meaning to do for…um…a long time. I don’t even remember how long ago it was that I bought the things for this project. That is just sad.

I had seen several ceiling medallion projects around the blogosphere and Pinterest. Those puppies are not cheap. They range anywhere from $15-50. That’s crazy talk. I was digging around in our local ReStore, and found one for $5. It was ugly and dirty and the perfect candidate for a repurpose/makeover.

I bought some glossy, navy blue spray paint and a craft mirror that would fit right inside the hole where a light fixture would normally hang. I gave my sad little medallion 2 coats of spray paint and let it dry.

Once the paint was dry and set, I ran a bead of E6000 around the inside edge and plopped the mirror right in. Instamirror! This was a seriously easy project. Aside from dry times, it took about 10 minutes to complete. I’m going to help my mom makeover my sisters old bedroom into a new guest room, and I’m thinking this will look great in there! {I’ll be sure to show you pics whenever that does happen!}

The mirror ended up costing about $10 in total. To give you a little price comparison, this white decorative mirror from a boutique still has its $30 price tag on it. That’s 20 bucks saved. Blammo! {Also – why are mirrors so expensive?}.

Are there any easy projects you’ve been putting of for no reason at all? Or any big ones for that matter? Lord have mercy…I have a list. A long, long list.

Have a great Wednesday!
