Thanksgiving Mantel

Happy start of a new week to you! Santa has already made his debut in about every commercial on TV, some of our neighbors already have out their Christmas wreaths, and most of the world seems to have already moved on to the Christmas season. Now, don’t get me wrong…I am very excited, too! I’ve already started planning decor and gifts and mind often wanders that direction. We still have another holiday between now and then, and it is fast approaching! While there are plenty of debates going on {on the internet, at least} about when people should put up their decorations, or what time we should or should not start shopping…. I hope we will all take time to reflect on all of the things we have to be Thankful for and extend some kindness to those around us.

With Thanksgiving just days away {10 to be exact} I made a couple of tweaks to my Fall mantel to make it feel a bit more “Thanksgiving-y”. I edited and added what was there to create a simple mantel design. Simple seems fitting for Thanksgiving.

I wrote a portion of Psalms 100:4 {“Enter His gates with Thanksgiving and His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him and bless His name.”} on the mirror with a chalk pen. I love those things. It will easily wipe off with a bit of water.

I look at some examples of scripty hand lettering before trying my own, but I just freehand it.

The bouquet of fall leaves and a couple of little gourds stayed. I added the book {a thrift store find}. I love these old Reader’s Digest books with the marbled covers. So pretty! :)

This painting was done by my Grandmother {and I borrowed it from my Mom}. It seemed like the perfect addition to my Thanksgiving mantel, and I love having it on display.

Have you decorated at all for Thanksgiving, or do you plan to?

Have a happy Monday!
