Almond Joy Smoothie {Healthy & Dairy Free!}

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend! :)

We, along with the rest of the world I’m sure, are trying to get back to healthy eating habits after the holiday — as well as trying to get back to our normal daily routines. It is sometimes a challenge, but I’m welcoming normalcy after the holiday weeks. This girl needs her routine!

One of the things I struggle with the most is getting in a good breakfast before walking out the door. I know, I know. It’s bad. It really does throw off my whole day if I don’t eat a good breakfast and it it so important for good health. I’ve never really been a big breakfast person. I LOVE breakfast foods, and we have brinner all the time…I just sometimes have trouble eating earlier in the morning.

Since I am hypoglycemic {I struggle with low blood sugar} it is so important that I eat in the morning and make sure my breakfast includes protein. On those mornings that I’m struggling with feeling like eating, I like to make myself some kind of smoothie. I got a great response from my Coconut Smoothie, so I thought I’d show you a little variation on it that I love.

Ingredients to make a healthy Almond Joy Smoothie - protein, fiber, omega-3's, cholesterol reducing, fat fighting, promote healthy skin and hair, promote heart health, energy booster, regulates blood sugar...these are some good ingredients!

This goes out to all of you chocolate lovers! ;) I call this my Almond Joy smoothie. It’s a healthy and delicious way to start the day. This smoothie is dairy free, has a good amount of protein and calcium, healthy fats, fiber and omega-3’s. The ingredients are known for fighting fat and cholesterol, boosting energy, regulating blood sugar, and promoting healthy skin and hair {among others}. It’s pretty fantastic.

Healthy Almond Joy Smoothie {dairy free}

Really the only thing I did differently from the coconut smoothie, is swapping out the coconut milk for chocolate almond milk {yum!}. You can also make this a mocha by adding a little brewed coffee or instant coffee grounds. I highly recommend this option. :)

Almond Joy Smoothie
  1. 1 c Chocolate Almond Milk
  2. 1 Tbs Coconut oil
  3. 1 Tbs Maca Powder
  4. 1 Tbs Ground flax seed
  5. 1 tsp Vanilla extract
  6. 1/4 tsp Almond extract
  7. 1/4 tsp Cinnamon
  8. Honey
  9. Ice Cubes
  1. Ground your flax seed if it isn't already.
  2. Toss all ingredients except for the ice into your blender {the ice will cause the coconut oil to clump}. Run the blender until ingredients are fully mixed.
  3. Add ice and blend.
  1. Optional : you can add a bit of brewed coffee or instant coffee if you'd like a mocha taste. You can also add chocolate protein powder if you're needing an extra protein boost in the morning.

Yum! I know what I’m having for breakfast today!

Have a great Monday, y’all!
