Look for Less : Henna Monogram Letter

It’s time once again for the Look for Less Challenge! I always look forward to these challenges! . I love a good knock off, and I’m always amazed at what the L4L ladies come up with for each challenge! This month’s challenge is even better since I get to see your projects too! {more on that at the end of this post}.

Look for Less Design Challengers FINAL

I spotted these adorable Henna Monogram Letters from Urban Outfitters recently. At $14 {or 2 for $20}, I set out to create my own version for less. The price honestly isn’t that bad until you want to spell out a word or name. You could be paying upwards up $60 for a 6 letter word.

I made my own version for about $3 total. Are you ready for the easiest, simplest project of all time? Seriously. 2 steps!

First things first, you’ll need to gather all of your supplies! To create your own henna letter, you will need a wooden {or MDF} letter, stain and a white paint pen with a thin tip. I used stain I had leftover from my dresser makeover project

Look for Less : Henna Letter -- paint penTo begin, you will simply need to stain your letter. The amount of coats is up to you and what color you are trying to achieve.

Henna letter stainAfter the stain is completely dry, you can start doodling your design onto the letter. I looked at the UO version as my guide. You could also look up pictures of henna to borrow from, or create your own unique design. You will want to make sure the paint pen has a fine tip to get the best results. It is not going to be perfect {unless you have the world’s most steady hand}, but that is part of the character!

Henna letterAnd that is it! These letters are adorable all alone or strung together into a meaningful word or name. If you want to hang your letter on a wall, you can hot glue a paper clip to the back to act as a hook. Simple!

Look for Less : Urban Outfitters Inspired Henna LetterBe sure to check out the girls’ LFL projects, too! They never cease to amaze me. So much creative talent!
