TV Gallery Wall

The last few weeks have been about taking care of items that have been sitting on my to-do list for…ever. I have been dreaming up a gallery wall to go around our TV in the living room since the end of 2012 when we upgraded from a box TV and giant entertainment center, to a flat screen and media stand. I am absolutely thrilled that my idea is now a reality! Gallery walls are such a fun way to inject a bit of your personality into your space. They can be done in any variety of ways. I love an eclectic gallery wall that tells you a bit about the people who live in the home.

I wanted to put a gallery wall around the television to help it blend in a bit more. My goal was to create a focal wall with meaningful arts and prints…and, “oh, there’s a TV there, too” — as opposed to just being the TV wall. There is absolutely nothing wrong with having a TV wall in your house. The way our house is built, this wall is pretty much the first thing you see upon entering, so I wanted to pretty it up a bit.

As a reminder, here is what this space looked like before both the gallery wall and painting the media stand :

And here is what it looks like now!

TV Gallery WallI am really happy with the end result! I started to get a bit nervous when I was laying it out. I was concerned that it would make the room feel cluttered. I think it adds more character to the space, and having some height on that wall highlights our tall ceilings and actually makes everything feel a bit roomier. The dark and wooden frames seem to add warmth and coziness to the room as well {despite the fact that most of the art has blue tones – which I just now realized and was totally unintentional. I may have a thing for blue.}. Oh! And my adorable new blanket basket is from the Nate Berkus line at Target. How can one love a basket so much?
