About

Hi! My name is Rachel, and I’m so glad you have stopped by my corner of the interwebs! Grab a cup of coffee and stay a while!

Rachel at Like a Saturday

Like a Saturday was launched in July 2012 as my very own creative outlet. I was coming off a long year working a job that nearly sucked the life out of me. During that year, I completed one measly craft project, which is highly unusual for me. I love to constantly be creating and dreaming up new ideas, so it was so energizing to enter into a new season full of creativity!

Here you will find craft and seasonal ideas, an occasional recipe, DIY projects, and maybe a touch of crazy. My husband and I bought our little blank slate of a house in 2009. Since then, we’ve been working to turn this little house into a home on a shoestring budget and documenting the process on this little ol’ blog. You can find past posts and projects here

10 Things about Rachel

1) I’m a Texas girl, born and raised!

2) My husband and I lived around the corner from each other growing up, went to the same church for a little while, and knew a lot of the same people…..but we didn’t meet until college!

SDC107993) We dated for almost 4 years and got married 5 years ago in the beautiful Texas Hill Country. It was supposed to be a nice cool evening, but it was blazing hot and extremely humid. Our northern family members who were in attendance are still trying to get over the heat. :)

4) We are neck deep in the adoption process. We’re adopting domestically and should have our first baby home within the next several months. Which is INSANE! I’m pretty sure I’m still 17.

macy5) Except our first baby is actually our mini-schnauzer, Macy {Macy Jane when she’s in trouble}. This little ten-pounder is spoiled to the bone. She’s going to have a rude awakening when her sibling arrives!

 6) I’m the oldest of 3 girls, and my sisters are my very best friends. One is a nurse and the other hair stylist.

My sister's surprise engagement party..... in which we made them wear "his and hers cowboy hats".

8) I’ve seen You’ve Got Mail more times than I can count. It’s the perfect movie to craft by. Don’t cry…ShopGirl…

9) I absolutely love Fall. And Christmas. September – December is the very finest part of the year!

10) I can’t think of anything else…other than 9 being my favorite number and I probably could have ended it there.

HI Rachel, I don’t know where exactly I found your blog but I am sure glad I did! I’m also a “newly wed” and i’ve noticed that most bloggers are moms. Not that I don’t love kids and hope to have a bundle some day but I love finding other bloggers who aren’t always doing back to school stuff along with cute baby halloween costumes :) The post I came in on was your guest room bar stool make over. Totally love it! Hope to get to know you more through the blog world!!

I love your blog with pictures and step-by-step directions for your DIY projects! My husband and I are working on updating our hall bath so I Google imaged “light blue bathroom accents” and your master bathroom makeover inspiration popped up. We have similar taste and your ideas really helped me come up with a plan. Thank you!
