InstaFriday #22

Happy Friday! Friday = InstaFriday = the time and place to share all of those little moments during the week captured by my trusty iPhone.

I warned you that you would be seeing a lot of burnt orange this week! We made the trip to Austin last weekend to celebrate my sister and almost-brother-in-law’s graduations from the University of Texas {Hook’em!}.

Any time we’re in Austin is a great time, but this visit was extra special. I’m so proud of my sister, and she will make an amazing nurse! I already told her that she’ll be my primary practitioner from now on – haha! I’m really, really bad about going to the doctor, so I’ll just be calling her from now on {and you can bet she will yell at me to “GO TO THE DOCTOR!”}.

Their actual school ceremonies were both on Friday morning at the same time, so we missed the bro-in-law’s. I started crying as soon as the music began. I’m getting soft in my old age.

We went to dinner with both families to celebrate at The Salt Lick. That is some darn good Texas BBQ.

Saturday night was the big University wide ceremony at the Tower. There were over 8,000 graduates. It was incredible. It was so much fun to be a part of the ceremony. The UT event staff are a well oiled machine. I’ve been impressed at every event we’ve attended so far {including football games}.The tradition is to end the ceremony by lighting up the tower orange with the class number lit up in the windows {’13} with a big firework show. And, of course, I got teary again when we all sang “The Eyes of Texas”.

Sanya Richards-Ross was the commencement speaker and she did a fabulous job. She’s also the most gorgeous human being I’ve ever layed eyes on. Seriously. We had amazing seats so we were right in the middle of all of the action. The most famous graduate of the day was Vince Young. My husband was excited, because despite VY’s sad pro career {and foolish actions}, he will always be loved in our home for winning the ’05 National Championship game. We basically have a VY shrine in our house {It was dramatically downsized upon our marriage…otherwise we would have had a VY room. haha!}.

It was a really fun weekend with the fam, and we always enjoy being in the ATX. We love it’s quirkiness and can find laughs around every corner.

Now we are in full fledged wedding mode! {9 days!!!} I’m heading BACK to Austin today for bachelorette weekend. It will be fun {maybe too much fun?}!

InstaFriday #21

Happy Friday! It’s that time again to dump this week’s iPhone photos!

Things are getting busy around here, and you can tell as the amount of times I Insta decreases. Ha – I guess I just don’t think to stop and take a picture when I’m spinning in 8 directions. Oh well.

We’re just a little over 2 weeks out from my sister’s wedding {!!!}, so I’ve been putting together a lot of little last minute things for that. That has, of course, included succulent planting! It’s pretty therapeutic.

I have taken the time to do a couple of little projects, and there is one I am just dying to show y’all next week. I am loving it! In the mean time, did you know you can sharpen your chalk in a pencil sharpener? Game changer. Chalk art just got easier.

Here lies my first selfie….with my dog. Macy and I both got fresh haircuts for all of the upcoming festivities. We kinda let her go for a couple of months, and she looks about half her size now. Girlfriend can have so.much.hair. I’ve been grooming her myself {DIY with dogs?} since we’ve had her, and I think it’s time to send her to a professional. We pretty much end up scowling at each other for a bit after a hair cut.

Dad’s leg is apparently the best place to rest your head when road tripping. I’m currently on trip 1 of 3 this month — this time to celebrate my sister’s college graduation! Woohoo! I’m so proud of her and excited to celebrate!

InstaFriday #20

Happy Friday, once again! It’s been a whirlwind of a week! Nothing too exciting, but just one of those weeks that keeps moving faster than you can. Last weekend, I had the opportunity to attend a mini-bloggy bootcamp with The Sits Girls. I learned so much, and I’ve been working to implement a few of the new things I learned to make things even better around here!

The hubs and I are apparently all aboard the colored pants train. We were looking quite colorful together over the weekend. We always unintentionally match or coordinate. We’ve done it since we were dating. It’s really weird.

Check out this creature we saved from an oil spill. Our Macy is not a fan of bathing. And she is way past due for a haircut. I usually groom her myself…because I’m crazy…and I’ve put it off for way too long. I think she will meet the razor this weekend if I can squeeze it in. It needs to happen. After her bath, she let me swaddle her in the towel and hold her like a baby for 20 minutes…exhaling loudly the entire time. This dog cracks me up.

Y’all…add a little champagne {or sparkling water} to your pink lemonade in the middle of the week. It’s pretty and tasty and fun on a Wednesday.

I had to run into the local school supply store to grab some report covers for a project at work. I had to take a lap around the posters. Going into that store awakens the former preschool teacher in me and I just need to laminate everything. I totally had to fight the urge to buy a bunch of polka dotted library pockets. I’m trying to think up some use for them so I have an excuse. I will totally volunteer to be the bulletin board mom when we have kids.

Last weekend was a busy one. It started with another shower for my sister and future brother-in-law. So much good food. So much.

Then, I helped throw a baby shower for a church friend. It was one of the cutest baby showers I have ever been to! I have a lot of creative and talented people in my life!

Then later that night we went to an adoption benefit concert. Whew! It was a full, exhausting, wonderful weekend! We kept things pretty low key throughout the rest of the week.

I’d say it’s been a great week! I’m very much looking forward to this weekend. Tomorrow I’m attending my first blog boot camp! I’m nervous, but definitely excited!

InstaFriday

Happy Friday! How are y’all doing today? I’ve been such a slacker this week. I’m barely getting this InstaFriday post up. It’s been a chilly, grey, rainy week. I’m not sure where all of this cold weather is coming from in April, but I’ll take it! I’m trying to pretend like 100 degree days are not right around the corner.

For some reason, Sirius XM has decided to gift me with 3 months of free satellite radio. I’m sure they’re trying to wrangle in another customer, but little do they know how cheap I am. I am very much enjoying my 90′s station for the time being.I also need to dust my dashboard.

I very much enjoyed our long weekend last week! I accomplished next to nothing with my extra day off {except for napping, leisurely book reading, and getting my husband’s suit ordered for sister’s wedding}. I think that’s what set me off in this week of slackerdom. My schedule got thrown for a loop and it as all over. Also, fancy pedicures behind a diamond curtain with one of your favorites can do that to you. I haven’t been that relaxed in a loooong time! So so good.

I was so excited to find this fella on Amazon for 99 cents! This was one of the books my grandparents had at their house in their grandbaby stash. I remember my Grandad reading it to me, or spending an afternoon laying on the floor and staring at the beautiful watercolor illustrations. I love this book. It has wonderful memories tied to it!
