Easter for your Furry Friends

This post is sponsored. All thoughts and opinions are 100% my own. I was compensated for participating in the Kroger #EasterBasketHop campaign.

Hello. My name is Rachel and I am one of those dog owners. Our dog is our baby and we treat her as such.

Meet Macy Jane. The most spoiled pup in town. {I mean really….could you say “no” to those eyes?}

Don't forget your furry family members! Easter Basket idea for your pup #EasterBasketHopMy holiday lovin’ heart can’t bear to leave this girl out of the festivities. Macy brings smiles to the neighborhood kids every year by donning the traditional hot dog costume, and I repay her for her embarrassment in the form of a Christmas stocking and an Easter basket {And lots of treats and snuggles every other day of the year. See? Spoiled.}.

To be fair, it’s really all for me. I don’t think she knows Christmas from Tuesday, but it’s a fun and festive way to restock her toys and treats. It’s a win/win, really.

macy 1I stopped by Kroger on my way home from work one day last week to pick up a few essentials, and I totally got caught up in the pastel goodness of the Easter aisle. Good ol’ Kroger. I was able to get every single item I needed for Macy’s Easter basket! {and maybe a couple chocolatey items for myself. ahem.}

I picked up a basket, tissue paper, mini rawhide chews, a new toy, Easter themed cookie cutters to make homemade treats, and the ingredients for those treats. And gold eggs. Because GOLD.

Don't forget your furry family members! Easter Basket idea for your pup #EasterBasketHop I used the tissue paper as filler instead of typical Easter grass. It’s a lot less messy and I don’t have to worry about the pup getting into it.

Don't forget your furry family members! Easter Basket idea for your pup #EasterBasketHop I put a little extra tissue in the balk half of the basket to add a bit of height; and then layered all of the goodies in the basket.

Don't forget your furry family members! Easter Basket idea for your pup #EasterBasketHopI made the Easter Bunny shaped biscuits with this recipe {the peanut butter pumpkin one}. I’ve always wanted to try homemade dog treats and it was even easier than I anticipated!

LOVE Letters {DIY Faux Antique Brass Letters}

Happy day to you! I hope you are having a great week so far. We’re almost to the weekend!

I’m just sitting here sipping my coffee and admiring my Valentine’s Day mantel. We’re just a little over a week away from the day of all things love and hearts! One of my favorite parts of my mantel display are the gold LOVE letters. I’ve been itching to make more faux letters ever since I tried my hand at zinc-like letters this past summer. This time I aimed for an antique brass look. There is something about gold paired with red and pink that makes it feel a little more fancy and festive to me. :)

L-O-V-E : Valentine's Day MantelThis is such an easy craft and could translate into many other ideas. All you will need are your paper mache letters {mine are from Hobby Lobby}, oil rubbed bronze spray paint, metallic gold spray paint, and sandpaper or a sanding block.

LOVE letters : Faux antique brass letters #tutorialI just used paints I had on hand in my stash.

LOVE letters : Faux antique brass letters #tutorialStart by covering your letters in a coat of the oil rubbed bronze paint. Allow the paint to dry per the instructions on the can {usually 20 minutes}.

LOVE letters : Faux antique brass letters #tutorialOnce the paint is dry, spray the letters with your metallic gold paint.

LOVE letters : Faux antique brass letters #tutorialOnce the letters are completely dry, you can lightly sand them with a bit of sandpaper or a sanding block. Just sand enough to scuff them up a bit and allow some of the ORB paint to show through. This will create that worn look of antique brass.

LOVE letters : Faux antique brass letters #tutorialI’m obsessed with this craft and the possibilities are endless! Letters could be made for any holiday {like JOY or NOEL for Christmas}, your child’s name for their bedroom, a favorite phrase or your initial in your bedroom….the list could go on and on! Where would you put some faux metal letters?

Vintage Inspired Christmas Mantel

Hi there! I’m back after taking a few days off to spend with family and friends. I hope you all had a fantastic Thanksgiving! We ate way too much, did a bit of shopping, and dove right into the Christmas decorating. My house pretty much looked like a bomb went off for a few days. An in-between seasons bomb that tossed pumpkins and tinsel every which way. :)

Today begins the Christmas craziness here on the blog. I have so many fun things to share with you over the coming weeks! Be sure to check back in tomorrow for December’s giveaway. Gracie has put together an awesome prize package full of Christmas goodness! {It goes live at midnight tonight!}.

I’m excited to share my Christmas mantel with you today. I’m so happy with how it turned out! This is our first Christmas to have a real live mantel over our fireplace. In years prior, I used our old entertainment center as a “mantel” and hung our stockings and garland around the fireplace

The show piece of my mantel is this awesomely huge “Oh Holy Night” print. I bought the Noel set of digital files from Caravan Shoppe {only $5 for the whole set!} and had engineering prints done at Staples {the largest size was $7}. This was such an easy and inexpensive way to create a statement. This is my favorite Christmas song, and I love having a gigantic reminder of why we celebrate this season!

The arrangement on the mantel is put together with a variety of bottle brush trees and the DIY Christmas Tree Cones I made last year.

The large white bottle brush trees are from Target, and the pink one with ornaments in the middle is from Hobby Lobby. I ordered a pack of tiny white bottle brush trees from eBay. I flanked each side of the arrangement with sprigs of cedar. The greenery helps everything tie in with our red and green stockings. {Mine and Tim’s stockings are the two on the left and were Target finds several years ago. The stocking on the right is for our pup Macy and is from Garden Ridge.}.

I love that the fireplace is one of the first things you see upon entering our house. It’s such a festive corner!
