Fall Vignette

Hi there! I’m just popping in with a quick post today. :)

We don’t have many horizontal spaces in our home to decorate. The few that we do have get rearranged and made over every now and again. I just like to decorate! #cantstopwontstop

Our bedroom dresser is on of those spaces. A friend gifted me with an awesome vintage lamp. Along with decorating and redecorating, I also have a thing for lamps. I am a lamp girl, and I have more than I have handbags.

Fall VignetteOne thing led to another, and I was creating a little Fall vignette. My grandmother’s pumpkin painting returned, and in came the warm woods, textures, and old books. You just can’t have Fall decor without old books!

Fall VignetteThe backlit marquee ampersand is still hanging out, along with some framed wedding photos…one framed in barn wood. One of the only types of plants I can keep alive sits atop an old wooden box…similar to a card catalog.

Fall VignetteThis little vignette definitely warms up the space and gives off a festive Fall vibe. That’s about the extent of my Fall decor this year! I’m actually enjoying keeping it simple. :)

That’s all for today! I’ll see y’all on Friday. :)

Fall Porch 2014

Seriously, though. This gorgeous weather just puts me in the best mood. I totally wore boots and plaid yesterday…even though the thermometer climbed up to 85 degrees {a.k.a Summer for many of you}. But the days are starting and ending in the 60’s…and you just can’t argue with that! Fall is HERE!

A couple of years ago, we were in Estes Park about this time to celebrate our anniversary. I wore my cute boots and scarf to dinner. The host at the restaurant said “You’re not from here are you?”. No, sir…I’m not. But I’m carpe diem-ing the heck out of this sub-90 degree weather, thankyouverymuch!

My excitement for the season bubbled over onto my front porch. It looks like Fall exploded at my door. It’s fabulous. If you’re feeling grouchy, you can’t stay that way for too long at our house since you have to pass through our own mini-pumpkin patch to come and go. Pumpkins are the universal symbol for HAPPINESS!

I’m still using the book table that made its debut when the porch was decorated for Spring. It’s the perfect little pumpkin perch. I kinda love these croton plants. It’s even better in an apple basket.

My mums are looking a bit sad, but now that things are cooling off they’ll bloom and perk up soon! Mini pumpkins and gourds cannot be left out of your fall decor.

The last couple of years I have almost gone without the leaf garland, but it just doesn’t seem like Fall without it. We won’t see actual Fall foliage until January here, so these faux leaves will hold me over until then. In case you missed the tutorial for my fun Fall wreath yesterday, you can find it here

I’ve had that large chalkboard hanging on the porch for a year now {although, it decided to fall off the other day}. I still love it just as much! I really enjoy changing it out with the seasons or events. Our pizza delivery guy didn’t quite get it though. He slowly read my summer chalkboard aloud to me and said “Hm. Must be some kinda Summer thing”. That would be correct, sir.

Do you go crazy for Fall at your house, too? What’s your favorite part?

You’re not going to want to miss Friday’s post where I willingly humiliate myself on the internet. It’s gonna be fun, y’all! :)
